Do you have a flat tyre? You don't know if you need to replace the tyre or if it can be repaired? Of course, repairing a tyre is cheaper than replacing it, but it is important to assess with certainty whether the tyre repair is safe for your safety. Tyres are the only thing that connects your vehicle to the road, so don't take tire maintenance lightly.

Nails, pieces of glass, screws... No tyre is safe from a puncture and it is important to know what to do when this happens. In any case, if you have a tyre puncture, replace it immediately with the spare tyre so as not to aggravate the damage and above all not to endanger your safety and that of other motorists. Then go as soon as possible to your car centre to have the tyre examined by a professional, who will tell you whether your tyre is repairable or whether it needs to be replaced.

The ability to repair a tyre depends on the size and position of the puncture, among other factors. A tyre can only be repaired if the puncture touches the tread area. If it is the sidewall that is punctured, it will be necessary to replace the tyre so as not to jeopardize your safety. You should also be aware that if you have driven with a damaged tyre, the chances of being able to repair it are lower, as there is a greater risk that the internal structure will be damaged.
There are several puncture repair techniques.
The first is : Repair from the outside, using a drill bit, which is simple and quick because it does not require the tyre to be dismantled. However, this type of repair is not always recommended as it is rather summary, since the condition of the tyre is not examined as a whole.

The other is: Repair from the inside, consists of inserting a "mushroom" pin from the inside of the tyre to seal the puncture. This method of repair is the most reliable because it ensures a complete examination of the tyre and the safety of the repair. However, it is more complicated to carry out and should therefore be undertaken by professionals only.

Tyre repair is more often possible than you might think. It is both more economical and more ecological than replacement, which is why it is always worth checking its feasibility in the event of a puncture.
